As a response to the serious underfunding of speech and language therapy (SLT) for children, highlighted
this week by Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England, we are launching an innovative pilot
project in two Winchester primary schools. Support for the project is being sought through
Crowdfunding to cover the costs of professional staff.
The project, which will start in the October 2019, will offer SLT for children from final year speech and
language therapy students under the supervision of a qualified SLT. At the same time, it will provide much-needed placements for the students from the University of Reading. Kings Worthy Primary School and All Saints C of E Primary School have signed up to take part in the pilot scheme.
Talking Outcomes is sponsoring half of the cost of this pilot. The remaining funds are sought through
crowdfunding https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/speech-and-language-therapy-pilot-for-schools. All contributions will be gratefully received.
