Jan Baerselman, our director, was invited onto the Victoria Derbyshire BBC2 show to talk about
underfunding of Speech and Language Therapy on 13 th June. She appeared with some parents and
children who have speech & language difficulties to discuss the recent report from the Children’s
Commissioner entitled ‘We Need To Talk: The postcode lottery of children’s speech and language
therapy spending’.

She raised the importance of early intervention and the impact that speech, language and
communication difficulties can have on literacy, learning, relationships and mental health if children
don’t get the support they need.

You can watch the programme here from 42:33 mins until July 13th
